Re: Help WS- 8-250 -AC
I would assume the switch also was damaged in the storm. If the radios connected to those ports were fried then I would also assume those ports and possible more on the switch got damaged.
I would take the switch back to your shop and do these tests.
Factory default the switch.
Upgrade to most current firmware.
With POE off on all ports and nothing connected except your laptop check the status page to insure no ports are reporting watts, if it does then those current sensors are damaged which may also affect I2C communications to other sensors.
Verify all voltage under the Device/Status Tab such as 24V, 48V, 3.3V
Turn on 24V on all port and check each port with a known good 24V radio such as a NanoStation.
Turn on 48V on all port and check each port with a known good 48V device such as an IP phone.
You can make an assessment if the switch is useable except whatever ports are damaged however when a device takes damage it may or may not last forever.
You can send the unit back for repair if you like, this type of damage is not covered under warranty but you may wish to repair it although shipping may make it prohibitive?
Here is a GOOD post on proper grounding techniques to help protect you from damage: viewtopic.php?f=30&t=188
