Hello.
I have strange issues with a WS-24-400A and SFP ports 21-24: There seems to be no configuration to have a reliable link in my setup. Do you have an advice?
Setup:
First of all I connected a SFP module to Port 25. This is set to 1G by default and i had no link on it. I changed the setting to Auto and everything was fine. I changed port 26 to Auto and switched ports: Everything fine "even" after a reboot.
Now i tried to use port 21, because in production we'll have to use more than 2 SFP ports. Default setting of port 21 is Auto, so i expected to have link on it. I used the same SFP module as with port 25/26 but i got no link. I changed port 21 to 1G (which did not work on port 25) and link and ip connectivity was given. I changed the setting of port 21 back to Auto and still IP connectivity (also this did not work in the first place).
Then I tried to set port 22 to 1G with SFP module, but without cable. Link was ok after plugging in the cable. I changed port 22 to auto with cable connected and link was ok.
On port 23 there was no link with Auto. I removed the cable, set port to 1G (saved config) and set it back to Auto. Apply. Connected cable: Link.
Now i got link on Port 21, 22 and 23 with setting to Auto.
I powered the device of for some time. (Few minutes.)
Connected cable to Port 21: No Link. Same for port 22 and 23.
Ok, maybe i have to use 1G on these ports. At least it was working with the change from Auto to 1G.
I set port 21-24 to 1G, saved config and powered the device off for some minutes.
Then i restarted the switch and: No link on port 21-24 with configuration 1G.
By the way: With setting 1G i never had link on port 25.
Do you have an advice for ports 21-24?
Many thanks in advance!
Greetings from Germany,
Sebastian
Firmware: 1.3.6
SFP Module: MikroTik Single Mode S-3DLC20D
Configuration:
Only one management VLAN 300, tagged on all ports. No more VLANs on switch. All ports Trunk Port / Allowed VLANs 1-4095. IP address set. Nothing more.

Re: WS-24-400A and issues with SFP port 21-24
With Ports 25 & 26 with the newer firmware you can change the SFP from Auto to 1G as you state.
Some SFP modules work best with 1G and other with Auto, but also it depends not on just the SFP module but the device you are connecting to but ports 25 and 26 are not an issue as I understand as they work fine with Auto.
SFP Ports 21-24 are shared with the built in copper ports and since it is assumed that if you need a copper connection for ports 21-24 you would use the built in copper ports which is controlled by the Auto/1G option in the UI on the Ports Tab.
However if someone is using an SFP module in the shared cages for ports 21-24 it is assumed that they will be fiber and we only support 1G Fiber so those SFP cages are always set to 1G, the settings in the UI have no control over those cages.
Try setting the device on the other end of the fiber to 1G and not Auto.
If that doesn't work you need to try another SFP manufacturer.

Re: WS-24-400A and issues with SFP port 21-24
I assume you meant S-31DLC20D for the SFP model, since S-3DLC20D doesn't seem to exist. I have these modules.
You didn't mention what you were connecting the WS-24-400A to. Is it another Netonix switch?
I just did a quick test between two Netonix switches. The first switch was connected to port 25 set to 1G. The second switch was connected to port 21 set to Auto. It linked immediately and worked fine and continued to work after reboots.

Re: WS-24-400A and issues with SFP port 21-24
Hello Chris and Eric.
I disabled autonegotiation on the connected device (an alcatel DSLAM) and got link on all SFP ports with the following setting:
Port 21-24: 1G (or auto)
Port 25-26: 1G
This would match, that "SFP cages [21-24] are always set to 1G".
I will set ports 21-26 to 1G.
(Eric: You are right, it's a S-31DLC20D SFP.)
Thanks for your support!
