DC switch not waking up after hibernation, when voltage rise

Fri Nov 20, 2015 7:29 pm

We have had a 2 week storm and it is taxing our solar powered APs. We had one go down last night at 2am. I am assuming the Netonix went into hibernation. We got to the tower this morning around 8:30am, and the voltage of the batteries was already up to 25v, but the netonix did not turn on. We had to do a hard reboot as it never woke back up.

This is the second time this has happened. I only have the Warner Voltage:22, Hibernate:21, Wakeup:23,
I don't have an specifics on the ports. Should I?

This is a WS-12-250-DC, Firmware 1.3.3
I didn't see any fix for this in the latest firmware releases and I try to avoid upgrading firmware unless I have a specific issue. Other then this issue, the switch runs great!

There is a fix for this coming out in v1.3.8

There is a rounding issue on values on the Power Tab where we only display 1 decimal of precision yet the switch uses the real number to make decisions.

We are about to finalize v1.3.8 "soon" but you can download the latest RC version which is v1.3.8rc12 at the same place you download the latest FINAL version.

Sounds good.

In the mean time, if I do not want to run the RC version, can I just turn the hibernation off?

It is released but you just have to set the hibernation voltage to the default which is the lowest value of 9V and wake up at 10V

Trust me you want to upgrade this version with v1.3.8 as v1.3.3 has a lot of bugs especially for DC switches

Hi,

I just got my first DC switch (WS-12-250-DC) yesterday. I have had the AC switches for awhile now and they have been really great products!! Thanks

I was testing the DC switch last night. It came with firmware 1.3.8 on it. I can not get the switch to wake up after hibernation either. I was testing in 12 and 24 volt scenarios with SLA batteries.

I had the hibernation volts set to 11.9 and 23.9. I tried wake up volts at 12.0, 12.1, and 24.0 - 24.5. It will hibernate OK but will never come back on, even when going over a volt above wake up setting. If I remove power and reapply it comes on right away. I think I had tried hibernation volts at 12 and 24 too.

I also saw that the shutdown email does not contain the voltage in the email. The warning email does include the voltage.

!Low voltage warning (24.3V) - from Netonix Switch (192.168.1.20) .

Shutting down due to low voltage - from Netonix Switch (192.168.1.20) .

Let me know if there is anything I can help test.

Don~

Still cant get this to work. Am I doing something wrong or is this still firmware issues?

dray

I just verified that it works in my lab, but there is a bit of an issue on our side where we have a tolerance in regards to input voltage measurements. Our voltage measurement's have
a tolerance of +- 3% accuracy, with a typical accuracy being probably around +- 1.5%.

So, in theory, if you have wake up setting at 24 volts, the switch might no come on until it sees up to 24.72 volts, but more than likely it should come up when it gets to around 24.36 volts. But you said you brought voltage up over 1 volt above settings & it still didn't come back on.

I replicated your test in my lab, and switch did wake up when i hit 0.3 volts above my wake up set voltage in GUI.

We are also working on a possible firmware "calibration" option that will let users calibrate their switch to get rid of tolerance's. But so far, not to many people have requested a need high accuracy.

Can you post screen shots of your Power page showing the warning/hibernate/wake settings, and also a post of your status page so i can see your firmware versions.

Thanks.

Dave
