Brand new WS-24-400A running 1.3.8 final.
I have noticed that when you are editing multiple port descriptions (pretty much anything over 5-7 ports) and hit save, the switch becomes unresponsive. The web interface locks up, and I'm unable to SSH. I can ping the switch. I'm not sure if it's forwarding traffic or not, because this is just on the bench.
Is this a known issue? My work-around is to only modify 1-2 port descriptions at a time, and then hit SAVE.

I never saw that before, we will look into it further.
What browser are you using as the browser would have an affect on this.

Re: Switch crashing/locking up with editing port description
Ok - so it's also happening with VLAN descriptions.
This is pretty annoying. :(

I can not help you if you do not answer my questions.
No one else is seeing this that I am aware of. Since the UI resides on your computer web cache I must assume it has something to do with your browser?
This is not to say we do not want to figure out what it is but we need more info.
Have you tried accessing this switch with another browser or computer?
Since it is web based the computer and browser can affect it.

Re: Switch crashing/locking up with editing port description
Sorry - I did not see your post before I posted again.
I left my desk for a while, and it looks like the switch finally came back to life several minutes later. I am using Chrome 46.0, but I don't see how that would make the interface (CLI or web interface) unresponsive. Any JavaScript stuff should only affect the client side browser. I could be wrong.
Here is a snippet of the log if it helps:
Dec 31 19:08:03 UI: Configuration changed by 10.69.0.122
Dec 31 19:08:18 system: starting ntpclient
Dec 31 19:10:07 UI: VLAN 1 ID: changed from '1' to '10'
Dec 31 19:12:17 admin: Reverting to last known good configuration
Dec 31 19:14:07 UI: VLAN 1 Name: changed from 'Management' to 'PER069-Management'
Dec 31 19:16:10 system: starting ntpclient
Dec 31 19:18:07 UI: VLANs: added 'PER069-DAN090'
Dec 31 19:20:18 system: starting ntpclient
Dec 31 19:22:07 UI: VLANs: added 'PER069-MIT015'
Dec 31 19:24:18 system: starting ntpclient
Dec 31 19:26:07 UI: VLANs: added 'PER069-COR030'
Dec 31 19:28:18 system: starting ntpclient
Dec 31 19:30:07 UI: VLANs: added 'PER069-STP034'
Dec 31 19:32:18 system: starting ntpclient
Dec 31 19:34:07 UI: VLANs: added 'PER069-HOG011'
Dec 31 19:36:18 system: starting ntpclient
Dec 31 19:38:07 UI: VLANs: added 'PER069-HOBART'
Dec 31 19:40:18 system: starting ntpclient
Dec 31 19:44:18 system: starting ntpclient
Dec 31 19:48:18 system: starting ntpclient
Dec 31 19:50:19 system: starting ntpclient
You can see that I hit the 'submit' button on the form at ~19:10, and it slowly updated the descriptions until 19:38 (at least that is what it looks like to me).
Thanks for any help!

Re: Switch crashing/locking up with editing port description
Please try configuring the switch from another computer.
If that does not help please press and hold the factory default button until the LEDS all go red then let up and try it again.
I can not replicate this issue nor has anyone else reported it.
Yes the local computer can affect this as the UI is running on the local host and handles the whole process.

Re: Switch crashing/locking up with editing port description
So - I tried it on another laptop running Windows 7.
The issue persisted in Chrome. The issue did not occur when using Firefox.

Re: Switch crashing/locking up with editing port description
Have you tested incognito mode in case it is related to an add-in?

Yea, I am unable to replicate this and I have not had any other reports of this.
The browser runs the UI and sends the information to the switch so if the browser is mangling the communications?
Can you re-create this Les?
