Mine has been up for less than 24 hours, but already I REALLY like this switch. As has been observed in a number of posts already, the interface is very intuitive and responsive. I can't say I missed a manual as I pulled it out of the box and got started. You just feel immediately at home and everything is located and responds as you would expect.
Here are some other observations/requests in no particular order:
· Ability to reset counters by port
· Ability to setup multiple IP addresses (for each VLAN for example) which will be especially useful after setting up Ping Watchdog and having it monitor equipment in VLANs different than the switch’s primary IP.
· Ability to add static routes
· Download links to the Forum (or website ultimately) to manually check for new firmware and then later, perhaps a utility that will check for new updates automatically.
· I have to admit, one area I miss for the ToughSwitches this first Netonix replaced is the ubiquiti discovery tool… any chance of being able to introduce that or use CDP to perform a similar function?
· On a similar note, the ‘Test Changes’ button to restore the switch to the previously working configuration if the changes cause a loss of access.
· A warning popup in the VLAN screen when clicking the X to ask the user whether they are sure they want to delete the VLAN.
· A warning popup when choosing to clear the log. Right now the log is deleted immediately after the Clear button is clicked.
· On the log front, a search field similar to what is available in the Mac Table screen that would allow a user to enter terms.
· More floating help… Ex. In Port Detail, it would be nice to hover over some of the different Receive Errors and get a feel for what they are. For example, what are RX_Filtered errors?
As this is targeting the WISP market, perhaps some real-world examples of what they could potentially indicate is happening. This goes for all areas of this screen. A link next to the Transmit or Receive Counters… maybe talk about what kind of distribution is typical… encapsulate all of the knowledge that has been accumulated over the years in experience and google searches and expose it directly in the interface. While I know every network is different, I would think there are some commonalities that could be addressed to the benefit of all. A lot of this definitely falls in the dessert category and should be far down the list, but I think it could make this product stand out even further than it already does.
· ACL Control – being able to specify what addresses/subnets can access the management interface
· Bandwidth test- does this have the horsepower to be able to run some type of speedtest? It would be very cool if it could..
· A legend as to what the different port colors and outlines represent on the main screen.
· Alerts- In addition to Ping Watchdog, be able to set alerts for RX and TX Bandwidth (% and Mpbs), PPS, Link Up and Down on a per port basis. Also, temperature alerts, fan failures or RPM thresholds.
· Ability to clone settings across multiple ports
· Fix to Chrome on Mac… posted in another thread, but haven’t yet been able to login to the switch using Chrome on two Macs running Chrome 40.0.2202.3.
· Indication when other people are logged into the management web interface on the switch
· Ability to sort on the Status and Ports tab by the column headers. For example, I may want to see the Power Consumption arranged from highest to lowest or vice versa on the Status tab or all the 48V equipment I have configured in one group on the Ports tab.
· A search box for the Description field similar to what is on the Mac Table screen would even be helpful on the Status and Ports tab to avoid having to scroll and be able to type in exactly what you are looking for.
· The ability to be able to select multiple ports and have them graphed simultaneously below.
· On graphs, is it possible to also get a 12 hour and 24 hour option? Perhaps even longer? I realize that it makes sense at some point to move this analysis over to a NMS, but if it is possible I thought it wouldn’t hurt to ask.
·When clicking a port on the main screen or hovering over it, indicate the VLANs that it is a member of and whether it is Tagged or Untagged for each.
·Minor interface quibble.. Having to click in the outside edge gray areas on the interface to return the statistics up top and graphs on the bottom to a switch-level view rather than a port level view... from another post I believe Chris has already addressed this and will remedy the issue shortly.
·Love the cable diagnostics... also love how it knows to warn that communications will be briefly interrupted on a 100 meg test. Is it possible to get a little more info on what some of the reported statuses indicate. Everything looks good for me except on on I get abnormal termination. The lengths its reporting are impossible in this case. What does it mean?
·Ability to rerun the cable diagnostics test without having to click the x and then choose it again from the port menu.

· Ability to reset counters by port
We can look at this but not sure the switch core gives us this ability?
· Ability to setup multiple IP addresses (for each VLAN for example) which will be especially useful after setting up Ping Watchdog and having it monitor equipment in VLANs different than the switch’s primary IP.
Yes this has been asked for already an is on the road map after we get a stable version with existing feature sets.
· Ability to add static routes
Can not do this with this switch core, sorry. Now this is not to say we will not build a switch in the future that can do static routes and maybe even higher level routing. All we need is support and mo-money, I am tapped out!
· Download links to the Forum (or website ultimately) to manually check for new firmware and then later, perhaps a utility that will check for new updates automatically. This is possible and was though about, I turned it down as I figured most WISP’s will run these with invalid IP’s that are not NAT’d? Guess if people really want it we could do this in the future.
· I have to admit, one area I miss for the ToughSwitches this first Netonix replaced is the ubiquiti discovery tool… any chance of being able to introduce that or use CDP to perform a similar function?
We could support both the UBNT discovery and CDP. We can look to add this in the future.
· On a similar note, the ‘Test Changes’ button to restore the switch to the previously working configuration if the changes cause a loss of access.
Eric (the programmer) wanted to put this in and I had pulled it from the initial release due to time and resource constraints. Will put in this feature down the road.
· A warning popup when choosing to clear the log. Right now the log is deleted immediately after the Clear button is clicked.
Easy, sure.
· A warning popup in the VLAN screen when clicking the X to ask the user whether they are sure they want to delete the VLAN.
Easy, sure.
· On the log front, a search field similar to what is available in the Mac Table screen that would allow a user to enter terms.
Easy, sure.
· More floating help… Ex. In Port Detail, it would be nice to hover over some of the different Receive Errors and get a feel for what they are. For example, what are RX_Filtered errors?

Yes, I wanted this in the first release but we ran out of time, will be added in the future along with Tar Pit.
· Bandwidth test- does this have the horsepower to be able to run some type of speedtest? It would be very cool if it could..
Yea, I will talk to you more in depth about this on the phone soon.
· A legend as to what the different port colors and outlines represent on the main screen.
Easy, sure.

That is in there already?
· Fix to Chrome on Mac… posted in another thread, but haven’t yet been able to login to the switch using Chrome on two Macs running Chrome 40.0.2202.3.
FIXED in next release. May require you to manually force the certificates to be renewed, see other post.

hmmm, let me think about this one. The problem is how to integrate it.

That’s a lot of historical data and when averaging it out that long the line tends to get pretty flat.

Yea we want to expand that feature with more info.

Apparently Dave and Eric are working to implement this feature. It may be in v1.3.9 FINAL
