When firmware upgrading switch I loose 7 ping to equipment connected to switch.
Isn't it possible to make firmware upgrades noninteruptible ?
I can see that equipment connected to the switch is not rebooted, so it do still provide PoE to the equipment.

Re: Firmware upgrade noninteruptible?
I believe you are asking can't the switch keep passing traffic the entire time it is being updated? I believe the answer to this is, that's as far as you're going to get for now. There's something with the switch core (I believe) that gets rebooted or reset quickly when the software comes back up.
I'd say 7 pings (7 seconds) is pretty good for an inplace upgrade!

I actually lose 30 pings (which is odd... I seem to recall it used to be around 4 pings) doing upgrades on the most recent firmware.

Re: Firmware upgrade noninteruptible?
Depends on your configuration as a reboot will basically shut the core down, default it then re-apply your configuration

This happens on new switches I have minimal configs on. Just tried it on my desk. On 1.3.7

Maybe it could be possible if the linux image and vitesse API stay the same and only the GUI and CLI code is updated. Maybe even the API could be update without reboot. Eric ?
I personnally had up to 45 secondes of downtime.
